Iga Swiatek, the defending champion of Roland Garros, had a straightforward win over Wang Xinyu on Saturday.
The top seed took only 51 minutes to beat her opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 score in their first tour-level clash.
The Polish champion finally resembled the Iga we had seen in Paris a year earlier. Confidence, amazing movement around the court, and the ability to step up the game when she needs it most.
The Polish player has now won her last ten matches at the tournament and has a 24-2 career record there.
She did not face a single break point and hit 21 winners to Wang’s three.

In the fourth round, she will face the winner of the match between Bianca Andreescu and Lesia Tsurenko.
