Poland-24 is committed to accurate reporting.
We take reasonable steps to verify material facts before publication, but journalism is produced by people and mistakes can occur. When we establish that something we have published is materially inaccurate, we will correct it.
Reporting an error
Readers can report a suspected error by emailing:
- Find more news from Poland on our Homepage .
Please include the URL of the article, identify the statement you believe is incorrect and explain why it is inaccurate.
Where possible, include a reliable source or original document supporting the correction.
We assess correction requests on their evidence. A disagreement with an opinion, interpretation or editorial emphasis does not by itself establish a factual error.
How we handle corrections
We consider the nature and significance of an error when deciding how it should be corrected.
Minor spelling, grammar, formatting or typographical mistakes may be corrected without a formal correction notice when they do not alter the meaning of the article.
Material factual errors — including significant mistakes involving names, dates, figures, quotations, attribution, geography, legal or procedural status, or the description of an event — will be corrected as appropriate.
Where a correction materially changes a reader’s understanding of the story, we aim to add a correction or editor’s note explaining what was changed.
Developing stories
News can change rapidly.
An article that was accurate when published may require updating when new information becomes available. In these circumstances we may update the article to reflect the latest confirmed information.
An update is not necessarily a correction. Where earlier information was wrong rather than merely incomplete, we will treat it as a correction where appropriate.
Allegations and disputed claims
We take particular care with allegations, legal proceedings and politically or publicly contested claims.
An allegation should not be presented as an established fact merely because it has been reported elsewhere.
If the status of a claim changes after publication — for example because an investigation concludes, a court rules, legislation changes or an institution issues corrected information — we may update the article accordingly.
Retractions
In exceptional circumstances, an article may contain problems so substantial that correcting individual passages would not adequately address them.
Where appropriate, Poland-24 may retract the article or replace its contents with an explanatory notice.
We prefer transparency over silently removing published material where a meaningful public record of the correction should remain.
Images and captions
Our corrections policy also applies to photographs, captions, graphics and other visual material.
If an image has been incorrectly identified or a caption contains a material factual error, we will correct it.
Illustrative images should not be presented as authentic photographs of an event they do not depict.
