Ukrainian Man Deported After Bizarre Attack on Police Cruiser in Sochaczew

Local police in Sochaczew, Mazowieckie, responded Sunday night to an unusual and disruptive call involving a 28-year-old Ukrainian national, whose actions ultimately led to his deportation from Poland.

Authorities say the incident occurred on September 28, when officers from the Teresin precinct raced to a scene where a visibly intoxicated and aggressive man was making criminal threats against two other Ukrainian men. Dispatchers received urgent reports that tensions between the men had escalated, prompting law enforcement intervention late in the evening.

When officers arrived, they subdued the suspect and escorted him to the back of a police cruiser. However, his agitation only intensified. In an unexpected turn, the man allegedly attacked the police vehicle from the inside, clamping his teeth down on a door seal and biting off a section of the rubber insulation. Police also reported damage to the car’s painted surface—a display of rage that officers described as “distinctly unusual.”

“Police cruisers have undergone hundreds of interventions and have seen all kinds of scenarios. Transporting various individuals is nothing new, but biting into the vehicle itself is certainly a first,” said Senior Sgt. Agnieszka Dzik of the Sochaczew Police Department.

After his arrest, the suspect was taken into custody, where he faced three criminal charges including making threats and destruction of property. Officials soon discovered he was not new to trouble in Poland, having previously found himself at odds with the law.

Given his repeat infractions and the nature of the latest charges, the Sochaczew police chief filed a request with the Border Guard service, seeking action to remove the suspect from the country. By Tuesday, the man was transferred directly to a Border Guard facility and promptly handed over to Ukrainian authorities the same day.

The authorities have since confirmed his removal from Polish territory, stating that repeated criminal conduct and the recent aggression justified the swift decision.

Unusual police emergencies have become more prominent in public discourse, and this latest case has raised questions locally about the pressures faced by law enforcement dealing with unpredictable and violent behavior. Sochaczew police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any similar threats or disturbances in a timely manner.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about public safety and underscores the challenges officers face in ensuring order during unpredictable confrontations. The damaged police vehicle is undergoing repairs, while law enforcement officials review protocols for handling high-risk detainees to prevent future property damage.

Authorities have not released the names of any individuals involved, citing privacy regulations and ongoing investigations.
