The latest report from the National Support Centre for Agriculture (Krajowy Ośrodek Wsparcia Rolnictwa – KOWR) reveals a historic achievement for the Polish food industry. In 2023, enterprises across Poland exported agricultural and food products valued at a record €51.8 billion (approximately PLN 236 billion), marking a significant 8.1% increase from the previous year. The surge in exports, led notably by meat and meat products, signifies Poland’s growing influence in the global food market.

“The past year has been another successful one for the export of Polish food. This result is due to several factors, including the continued competitive pricing and high quality of Polish products,” stated Henryk Smolarz, the General Director of KOWR. This success story underscores the resilience and appeal of Polish food products on the international stage.

The increase in exports can also be attributed to the diminished impact of negative factors such as raw material costs, transportation, energy, and fuel prices. These improvements have allowed Polish food producers to expand their reach and strengthen their presence in global markets.

The European Union remains the largest market for Polish food exports, with over 73% of the products heading to EU countries. Sales within the EU amounted to €38 billion (around PLN 173 billion), witnessing a 7% growth. Germany emerged as the largest importer of Polish food, purchasing goods worth €13.3 billion, an 11% increase from the previous year.

Other significant markets for Polish food include the Netherlands (€3.2 billion), France (€3.0 billion), Italy (€2.5 billion), and the Czech Republic (€2.4 billion). These figures highlight the diversified and expanding nature of Poland’s food export market.

The record-breaking export figures of Polish agricultural and food products in 2023 are a testament to the country’s robust food industry. As Poland continues to navigate and conquer global markets, the blend of quality, innovation, and competitive pricing remains key to its success. With an eye on further expansion, the Polish food sector is poised for continued growth, reinforcing its status as a global agricultural powerhouse.
