Garnering international acclaim, this national delicacy outshined its closest competitor, the Basque cheesecake, marking a significant leap from its second-place finish in the previous year’s rankings.

The cheesecake, with its rich historical roots tracing back to antiquity, has evolved through the centuries, embedding itself deeply in both Christian and Jewish traditions. The dessert’s journey to Poland in the 17th century, courtesy of King Jan III Sobieski, signifies a pivotal moment in its storied history. Over time, Polish culinary artisans have refined the cheesecake, incorporating local flavors and ingredients, such as fruits and raisins, to create a distinctively rich and indulgent treat.
The TasteAtlas ranking showcased a diverse array of cheese desserts from around the globe, with India’s ras malai and Greece’s sfakianopita also making notable appearances in the top tier. Following closely were variants from New York, Japan, the Basque Country, Hungary’s rakoczi turos, another Greek entry—melopita, and Germany’s kasekuchen, illustrating the international love and versatility of cheesecake.
