In a startling incident in Mirzec, a small town in the Świętokrzyskie region of Poland, a 59-year-old man launched an attack on the local police station. The attack, which occurred just before 10 a.m., involved the man hurling a bottle filled with a flammable substance at the building.
According to Podinspektor Kamil Tokarski, the press spokesman for the Provincial Police Commander in Kielce, the situation escalated rapidly. Initially, the assailant entered the police station and caused a commotion. After exiting the building, he ignited one of the bottles, believed to be filled with gasoline, and threw it at the station.
The police response was immediate. When the man failed to comply with the officers’ commands, they initially fired warning shots into the air. As the situation intensified, the officers were forced to shoot directly at the attacker. The man was injured in the incident and subsequently transported to a hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
The fire that erupted as a result of the attack was quickly extinguished by the officers. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, with a prosecutor on site to oversee the proceedings.
