During a joint press conference, Prime Minister Donald Tusk highlighted the need for a “completely coordinated security policy in Europe,” emphasizing an end to the existing fragmentation in defense efforts. “We must create a completely coordinated security policy in Europe,” Tusk stated, underscoring the initiative to consolidate defense strategies across the continent. Both leaders discussed enhancing their collaboration within existing defense frameworks where the UK and Poland operate, reflecting a deepened commitment to securing European skies and territories.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak elaborated on the UK’s upcoming military contributions to Poland, which are set to significantly reinforce the latter’s defense capabilities. “Next year, we will deploy RAF Typhoon fighters to underline that we take security matters seriously. We want to assist in patrolling Polish skies. Air defense is essential, and the United Kingdom wants to support Poland in this endeavor,” Sunak announced. The strategic deployment not only signifies the UK’s support for Poland but also its continued commitment to European security, marking a pivotal moment in NATO’s eastern defense posture.

“I would like to talk about the incredible strength that characterizes our relationships,” said the Prime Minister of Great Britain. “We are allies forever,” added Sunak in the Polish language. The head of the British government assured that Great Britain will not forget that it was Polish pilots who saved the lives of the British while fighting in the British sky during WWII.

“We are major military powers that assist Ukraine. For the past two years, we have been helping Poland’s neighbor. When it comes to our military assistance, I want to help even more. That’s why today I mentioned additional assistance of half a billion pounds, so that we can further support the financing of equipment purchases for Ukraine,” he said.

Sunak pointed out that there is a strong bond between Poland and Great Britain “that builds security in this situation.” “Poland spends the most on security among all NATO allies,” he said.

The meeting also touched on broader security issues, including the use of frozen Russian assets, migration pressures on the Polish-Belarusian border, and energy cooperation. Both governments expressed a strong desire to integrate their industrial defense capabilities, with Sunak mentioning the development of new defense systems designed to protect Polish airspace. “We are building frigates and a new air defense system that will defend the airspace over Poland. We will strengthen our cooperation in all formats to work on the most important aspects of air defense,” Sunak added.
