Poland has indicated it wants to host the 2036 Olympic Games. Up to this point, three nations have officially declared their intentions to host the esteemed event, yet the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has not yet disclosed when a selection will be made.
President Andrzej Duda declared, “We have initiated steps to secure the summer games in 2036.”
“After extensive consultations with the Polish Olympic Committee management, the Minister of Sports, his team, and the government, I am eager to declare our aspiration and plan to initiate efforts to host the Summer Olympic Games in our country in 2036.” – announced the President.
President Duda recalled the UEFA EURO Championship 2012, organized by Poland and Ukraine. “It was very important for us, a ground-breaking sports event. As a result, we undertook to organize not only in one sport discipline, namely football, but more widely, in various sports disciplines, including this year’s European Games, they were also a successful event,” assessed Andrzej Duda.
“In light of the advanced investment plans currently being executed in our country, all these considerations have led us to aspire to host the world’s largest sports event, the Summer Olympic Games,” he stated.
According to Duda, in terms of infrastructure, ‘Poland will be one hundred percent ready to organise the games.'”
By that time, the Solidarity Transport Hub (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny – CPK) will be ready; there will be 8 thousand kilometers of expressways and highways throughout Poland – said the president.
The President assured that we already have a substantial sports and hospitality base.
Sports and Tourism Minister Kamil Bortniczuk emphasized that he is counting on Poland being chosen. “We have proven over many recent years that we are a reliable partner. The European Games were the latest stress test to see if we are able to organize a comparable event to the Olympic Games without obstacles. In the Olympic Games, about 11-12 thousand athletes take part, while in the European Games in Poland, 7 thousand athletes participated; this is already a comparable scale”- assured the Minister of Sports and Tourism.
Bortniczuk asserted that the current economic status of Poland surpasses both that of Spain when it submitted a bid for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, and Greece, which hosted the 2004 Olympics.
Should Poland secure the opportunity to host the Olympic Games, Warsaw would be the chosen city. Official bids for this particular date have already been submitted by Mexico, Indonesia, and Turkey. Additionally, there is unofficial intent to apply from India, Egypt, and China.
The host cities for the upcoming games up until 2032 have already been announced as follows: Paris in 2024, Los Angeles in 2028, and Brisbane in 2032.
