WARSAW – A recent poll conducted by IBRiS for “Rzeczpospolita” reveals a closely contested race between the Civic Coalition (KO) and the Law and Justice Party (PiS) ahead of the parliamentary elections. If the elections were held this Sunday, 61.3% of respondents indicated they would participate.
Poll Results
The survey places KO slightly ahead with 31.8% support, while PiS follows closely at 30.3%, a difference within the margin of error. Other parties’ standings include:
- Third Way: 12.7%
- The Left: 8.9%
- Confederation: 7%
Approximately 9.3% of respondents remain undecided.
Analysis
Sociologist Prof. Henryk Domański of the Polish Academy of Sciences commented on the poll results, noting that both KO and PiS maintain stable levels of support, with the narrow gap between them falling within the margin of error. Domański expressed skepticism about the reported high voter turnout, suggesting it might be an overestimate.
The poll was conducted on May 23-24 with a national sample of 1,071 respondents. The findings reflect the ongoing political competition and the public’s electoral inclinations ahead of the upcoming elections.
