An attack on a 34-year-old woman from Poland and her 15-year-old son outside a supermarket in the Reinickendorf district of Berlin is being investigated by the state security service.
The woman reported her experience to police on Friday and said that while shopping at a supermarket on Thursday afternoon, she and her son spoke Polish. A man and a woman watched them as they left the store.
The man then chased after the woman, who was insulted. When her son tried to stop him, the man hit the teenager in the face. As the suspects drove away in a car, they threatened a 34-year-old woman.
Police believe that the assailants arbitrarily struck a 34-year-old woman in the shoulder and the face of a 15-year-old girl. Shop workers are thought to have tried to intervene.
An investigation is under way into bodily harm, insult and threat.
