A serious road accident occurred Thursday morning near Poznań involving five vehicles, three of which were part of a French military convoy stationed in Poland. The incident resulted in one injury, with a French soldier—a woman—being taken to the hospital with a broken leg.
According to police spokesperson Łukasz Paterski, the Poznań police received the first report of the collision at around 8:20 a.m. The accident took place on the provincial road No. 307 near Sierosław, a small town west of Poznań. Initial investigations suggest that the accident was caused by a chain-reaction collision, with vehicles running into the ones in front of them.
Three military vehicles, including two trucks and a bus, were involved, along with two civilian cars. While most of the involved individuals escaped without injury, the female soldier’s condition required immediate medical attention, and she was quickly transported to the hospital.
Polish authorities, including local police and the military police, are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. “It appears that the drivers failed to keep a safe distance, leading to this unfortunate incident,” Paterski explained. The road between Poznań and Buk, where the collision occurred, remains closed until further notice.
This accident disrupts military logistics for the French troops stationed in Poland as part of NATO’s joint operations, aimed at bolstering Eastern European defenses. While no additional details have been released about the convoy’s mission, military personnel in the area are coordinating efforts to manage the situation and resume operations as quickly as possible.
